Our vision is that everyone who goes on holiday has a safe stay full of happy memories and that all short term let properties comply with relevant safety standards, and landlords of compliant properties are recognised.
We’ve published our vision as we know it’s important to provide that clear direction and purpose of what we strive to achieve.
Our ultimate goal is to become a recognised safety mark in the short term let industry. It’s why our logo shows a house & landscape representing a holiday cottage along with a tick to show compliance.
As former regulators of private sector housing, we know the safety standards which should be adhered to, and it is this standard which we want members to achieve, not only to safeguard the operator and guests, but also the industry which is criticised for its lack of regulation.
Over time, we’re sure that our branding will become be recognised by National & Local Government, the Fire & Rescue Services Association as well as the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health of which I am a Chartered member. This will only happen if we satisfy those regulatory and professional bodies of the quality and standard we can assure.
We very much believe that compliance with relevant legislation should be rewarded and acknowledged. Similar to the ‘polluter pays principle’, responsible owners should benefit from greater consumer confidence, cheaper insurance, discounted licensing regimes and light touch regulation as they pose less risk than non-members or properties which don’t comply.
To achieve all of this, it is important that members and the industry understands our vision. Our goal is not to become a holiday company, but to compliment the tourism industry with a seal of approval.
Industries typically face challenges in effectively self regulating, it’s why there are still notable issues with properties that look as though they have a badge from other accreditation schemes, some just ask for documentation for gas appliances, and a tick box from the owner to assure compliance. Accreditation through us involves a health and safety inspection of each property, typically online, and a bespoke property improvement plan to help you address any concerns identified, then, ongoing support and advice. Having insider knowledge about housing health and safety should not come with a premium price tag, which is why our prices are so low, you have access to a huge wealth of regulatory information and expertise for less than £100 per year.
We’d love to work with you, join us today to see how we can help.
